Hungarian politicians accept luxurious gifts without consequences
According to state law, Hungarian politicians are not allowed to accept services and gifts higher than the amount of the salary and other income they receive. Despite the law, many politicians turned out to have disobeyed it as, for example, Viktor Orbán travelled to football games with a private aeroplane or Péter Szíjjártó on a yacht floating on the Adriatic Sea.
Index reported that in the last case involving Péter Szíjjártó, he was caught on summer vacation on the Adriatic Sea on a EUR 20 million yacht. The more interesting fact about the case is that Szíjjártó kept on sharing pictures on his social sites pretending to be working. The case was explained with the fact that the Hungarian politician spends his holiday but keeps on working at the same time.
In 2018, it turned out Prime Minister Orbán travels to Hungarian football games with a private aeroplane. When asked about the incident, Orbán reported that he had been travelling for thirty years with a plane to games and intends to continue this habit.
In 2016, the Hungarian media and society were outraged about Antal Rogán who travelled to a wedding by helicopter. Rogán denied that it was him, but later, as the first pictures were published, he could not deny it anymore. Rogán admitted months later in the Parliament and in front of the press that taking a helicopter was a mistake.
The fact that Zsolt Semjén loves hunting is not as surprising as the incident when Hungarian news portal Magyar Nemzet found out that Semjén was invited several times to Sweden to take part in expensive hunting trips. The outings of Semjén cost nearly EUR 14,000.
Later, the Swedish authorities even charged Semjén with transporting a shot deer on helicopter, but the case was dismissed.

Rather obvious that the opposition parties are just jealous. They would be doing far much worse things if they ever get in power and they have before. Look what they do now such as being paid lap dogs of George Soros. No doubt that DNH is not a friend to Fidesz because if they were these constant whine and cheese hit pieces would never see the light of day.. I support free speech and journalist reporting on what is important to Hungarians. I don’t however support so called media outlets with an agenda that does nothing except parroting their masters agenda. It is rather obvious whom that master is.
Such is life of autocrats in the kingdom of Orbananas.
Some Wine With Your Cheese is correct….this is a socialist hit piece that they would not do if their masters were in power.
As an American, I like many things that Orban has done. He put Hungary first and delivered a good economy with a growing number of jobs and increasing salaries. Orban confronts the socialist EU ideas like those on migration in order to protect the Hungarian people.
But, as an American, I like term limits. I think Orban has been in power for too long and that only leads to corruption and graft. The opposition parties have offered no alternative to Orban and they split the votes as they fight among themselves.
Until Hungary can find a good leader who can earn loyalty and still protect the nation, it will be stuck with Orban…or his hand-picked successor.
The poem titled – Invictus – meaning “unconquerable ” or “undefeated” in Latin, is a short poem, by the Victorian era English poet William Ernest Henley.
These words, have been used universally, Nelson Mandela, as an example, that focus as inspirational to our vision of life and the core or soul of our being.
” I am the Master of my Fate :
I am the Captain of my Soul.
In these challenging and testing times we ALL live, our global vision and knowledge, of the catastrophic disasters, that we have seen already inflicted on countries, by this novel coronavirus pandemic, the future, the words of Henley are a message, that we ALL should not Dismiss.
In the past (5) five months, saturated by media, the impact this virus has caused globally, in my reading and other forms of 21st century communication, there has not been one article, that has centered on Greed.
We know from the super power countries of the world down, the world, was caught with it’s “pants down” un-prepared for an invasion the magnitude that has been this novel virus.
It is evident, through the unpreparedness of the countries of the global world, the confusion disarray and shambles, countries find themselves today, through there structures, totally wrongly focused to handle a catastrophic humanitarian disaster, that is this novel virus.
Greed – of countries and of the human race, is this not a time to re-examine the definition of this word ?
Is it not time to re-examine the meaning of the word – Deed ?
What deed did I do this day for a purpose, other than my self satisfaction ?
We ALL have a major role in the fight and challenges that we ALL face presently and going forward, living our lives engulfed in a global virus pandemic.
Greed – Deeds – then the words of Henley, that we ALL – countries humans, are masters of our own fates and captains of our soul.
Interesting and penetrating words and the message of the poem written by Henley, there place in life to-day, that needs – immediately – there re-positioning and elevation, into the central core of countries and human lifestyle.
One of my pieces of artistic body ink, are the words of Henley, that my fate and my soul – that I take totally my Responsibilities in whatever occurs, in the challenges, of my life, but that I share my life, not driven by greed but deeds to others.
Stay Well ALL.
I am moving from The USA to Hungary.
Oh, how I look forward to having these kinds of problems with my politicians.
People like George Soros have destroyed my country. The fact that this is the best they can do to hurt Orban is hilarious. God Bless Orban in his fight against the deep and twisted evil of globalism.
It’s nice to hear so many replies and of different views of the the impact of the virus on our lives. It means we are taking a “Pause that Refreshes” and making us rethink our direction of “Our pursuit of Happiness” is going. I always think that a step backward sometimes becomes two steps forward in another direction and almost always a better direction.
A direction that will give us even more Happiness and self fulfillment.
Take Care ALL!
